The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs would like to express their sincere condolences to the family and friends of Gary Stevens who sadly passed away, age 81.
Bulldogs player no.422, Stevens joined the Club from South Sydney in 1977, with his influence alongside Bob McCarthy helping propel the Bulldogs to become Premiership contenders over the course of the next decade.
While his first season at the Club was cut short by illness, he returned in 1978 as a regular member of the first-grade team, helping guide the side to the Preliminary Semi-Final before retiring.
He played 188 first-grade games across his career, including two Premierships, five games for New South Wales and five Tests for Australia.
The Bulldogs wish to pay their respects to Gary. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.
