The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs are pleased to announce the signing of rugby test player Moana Courtenay to the Club’s inaugural NRLW squad for the 2025 season.
Arriving to the 13-a-side game with an impressive résumé, Courtenay has extensive experience which has seen her represent Tonga in both the 15s and 7s formats while playing in the North Harbour Hibiscus’ Farah-Palmer Cup side as well as for Penina Pasifika.
The 24-year-old is yet another proud New Zealander who will join the Bulldogs in the Club’s very first NRLW campaign alongside fellow Kiwis Alexis Tauaneai, Angelina Teakaraanga-Katoa, Ash Quinlan, Maatuleio Fotu-Moala, Paea Uilou, Shaquaylah Mahakitau-Monschau and Shaniece Monschau.
NRLW Head Coach Blake Cavallaro believes Courtenay represents the next generation of players looking to make the transition to rugby league.
“Moana has shown her talents in rugby and I’m very excited to work alongside her as she makes the leap to rugby league in Bulldogs colours,” he said.
“She has impressed in the outside backs in rugby and I’m looking forward to see how she transfers her skillset into the NRLW.
There are a number of ways we can implement her style of play into the side, and she will join the rest of the squad as a pioneer ahead of this Club’s historic 2025 season.
The Bulldogs congratulate Moana on her achievement and look forward to welcoming her to the Club for the 2025 pre-season.
