The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs are thrilled to announce the signing of Maatuleio Fotu-Moala on a two-year deal to the Club’s inaugural NRLW squad.
Making her NRLW debut in 2024, Fotu-Moala joins the Bulldogs following an impressive rookie year that saw her make six appearances for the Dragons, scoring three tries and average 113 metres per match.
The 25-year-old capped off 2024 with an impressive showing in the Women’s Pacific Championships for Tonga XIII, having made her Test debut in 2022. Fotu-Moala joins a strong core of Tongan representatives in the Bulldogs’ squad, including Pani Hopoate, Tegan Dymock, Paea Uilou and Shannon Muru.
NRLW Head Coach Blake Cavallaro was excited to announce the latest addition to his squad, citing the outside back's size and power with ball in hand.
“Maatuleio has shown great potential as a full-time NRLW player over the last twelve months, and she will make a great addition to our inaugural squad,” he said.
Her work out of the backfield coupled with her power and strength will be key to our attacking structures, and her qualities really complement the rest of our outside backs.
“‘Leio’ has earned her spot in the squad off the back of a great debut year, and I’m excited to see her grow further as a player and person when she arrives.”
The Bulldogs congratulate Fotu-Moala on her achievement and look forward to welcoming her to the Club for the 2025 pre-season.
