The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs NRLW squad has been given a timely boost ahead of the side’s inaugural season with forward duo Shannon Muru and Paea Uilou signing on.

Primarily a backrower, Muru has been a Bulldogs squad member in the Harvey Norman Women’s Premiership side since 2023, solidifying a role in the forward pack.

She also brings invaluable experience, having made an NRLW debut for Parramatta in 2023 and having represented Mate Ma’a Tonga in 2022 and 2023.

Muru will now join the Bulldogs NRLW squad for 2025 on a one-year deal.

Uilou, who arrived at the Club from New Zealand in late 2023 to join the Tarsha Gale Cup squad has ascended quickly through the Bulldogs ranks, having been elevated into the Harvey Norman Women’s Premiership side this year and providing plenty of impact both in the starting line-up and from the interchange bench.

The powerful forward will join the Club’s inaugural squad on a two-year term.

Female Football Operations Co – Ordinator (soon to be NRLW Manager) Lauren Milner, believes the addition of both players will bring much-needed depth to the squad and create plenty of competition for spots.

“It’s pleasing to secure both Paea and Shannon and see them continue their development at the Bulldogs,” she said.

“Paea is a very powerful, dominant front rower and has the added benefit of being a reliable goal-kicker. Since she arrived at the Club last year, she has gone from strength to strength.

“Shannon has been a mainstay in our Harvey Norman Women’s Premiership side this season both in the second row and at prop, and her experience at a senior level is certainly a valuable addition to the side.

The importance of signings like these can’t be understated. Their familiarity with the jersey, and our Bulldogs values and all that we stand for as a Club, is an important aspect when it comes to building our inaugural squad.

The Bulldogs would like to congratulate both Shannon and Paea on their signings and look forward seeing their continued development with the Club.
