Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldog's stars Declan Casey and Karl Oloapu were in Bundaberg to participate in multiple school clinics across the region.
Ahead of the club's Round 22 NRL Premiership fixture against the Dolphins, the Bulldog's duo alongside Western Clydesdale's Pathways Coach Blake Mara and NRL Game Development Officer Lachlan Delbridge were on hand to share the importance of making smart healthy choices.
The personal brand exercise is focused teaching primary school aged children the importance of building and maintaining values. As well as the benefits of healthy eating and regular physical activity to sustain a healthy lifestyle.
The contingent visited Woongarra State School, Gin Gin State School, St Patrick's Catholic Primary School, St Luke's Anglican School and Thabeban State School across a span of 48 hours.
Physical Education Teacher Jason Shears was excited for Woongarra State School to play host to players and staff.
"Canterbury-Bankstown being up here the second year, little bit of a footprint in the Bundaberg area."
"The kids love it, gets them out of class for a bit too. But anything to do with rugby league, sport and healthy lifestyles is absolutely fantastic. It's great to have the Bulldogs onboard."
NRL Game Development Officer for Bundaberg & Fraser Coast, Lachlan Delbridge acknowledged the role NRL players can play to influence children to lead a healthy lifestyle.
"To have the Bulldogs and the two boys here to help push that message across of following your dreams and giving a kids an understanding of what they want to do and what they want to be when they grow up."
Delbridge was ecstatic to have the presence of NRL players visit the region over the last two days in Bundaberg.
"It's very rare that we do get the opportunity to have current [NRL] players to come to these schools.
"It's just cool that boys and girls who watch them play on tv actually get their favourite players visit their schools and spend some time with them."
