The Bulldogs will proudly host Round 12, the NRL’s Indigenous Round, when they line up against the Gold Coast Titans at Accor Stadium on Sunday, May 21.
The Bulldogs will recognise and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture with Members and fans during the Club’s home match, to be played on Wann-gal lands at Sydney Olympic Park.
Preluding the match, a packed schedule of activities and entertainment designed to promote reconciliation, and build awareness and understanding of Indigenous Culture, will be undertaken on Sunday, with a special Welcome to Country and a number of artists set to perform on field.
The Bulldogs will carry a special token of Club heritage and dream time culture when they play the Titans for the first time in 2023, wearing their stunning Indigenous jerseys which feature a design by Pam Brandy Hall, a proud Bundjalung artist.
The team will walk out side by side with the Titans players to form a boomerang and partake in the on-field celebrations and traditional gift exchange.
Bulldogs CEO Aaron Warburton said the Round would provide an important platform for a proudly multicultural club to continue to champion respect.
“We are playing at an extremely family-friendly time this Sunday for Indigenous Round, and we are so excited that we can help share the stories of our traditional custodians of the land, celebrate their culture and help educate our fans and Members on the importance of reconciliation.
“This Round is such a significant event to showcase our nation’s amazing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture,” he said.
“The Indigenous design of our jerseys reflects our club’s connection, culture, and journey.
“We’re thrilled to be showcasing Pam’s amazing design. It’s a powerful, meaningful representation of togetherness at our home. This is everything we stand for as a Club and we can’t thank her enough for this incredibly special jersey that we know our team will wear so proudly.”
The Bulldogs 2023 Indigenous Round jersey and apparel range is set to be unveiled early next week.
Tickets to the match are available to purchase now, and a Jersey Flegg top-of-the-table clash between the Bulldogs and North Sydney Bears will play as a curtain raiser, kicking off at 11:45am.
The Bulldogs NRL side will kick off against the Titans at 2:00pm. Josh Addo-Carr is hopeful to return from injury and will be eager to help his side bounce back from a loss at the weekend in this especially meaningful match for the winger.
