NSW Cup sink teeth into Magpies

Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldog's NSW cup side have continued their perfect start to the season with a convincing 44-12 over the Western Suburbs Magpies in Round 3 at Belmore Sports Ground on Sunday afternoon.

The home side struck first in just the third minute of the match when right winger Jeral Skelton slipped through the Magpies defence.

Continued possession and field position was starting to build up again for the home side. Canterbury-Bankstown running in again courtesy of some slick footwork from five-eighth Khaled Rajab dancing his way to the try line 15 metres out.

The Bulldogs were up 14-0 after 15 minutes when captain Jackson Topine charged onto the ball at speed from halfback Karl Oloapu to crash over. It wasn't too long when Declan Casey capped off a return from injury with a try of his own moments later.

Our NSW Cup side kept the scoreboard ticking when Eli Clark got put into space for him to race 60 metres down the left touchline to increase the score to 26-nil.

As seconds counted down towards the end to the first half, Bulldogs forward Lipoi Hopoi snuck in for a try of his own when he dived on a loose ball in the in-goal area. The Bulldogs heading into the sheds up 32-0 at halftime.

Jeral Skelton started the second half scoring his second of the afternoon 2 minutes into the second half.

The visitors finally got over for a 4-pointer of their own when Kade Hill broke through the home side's defence, Livai Saukuru converting to take the scores to 36-6.
