Today marks 2023 International Women's Day, a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.
Women make a tremendous contribution at all levels of our Football Club and the advancement, growth and progression of the women’s game is a priority for the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs are a Family Club and are extremely proud of our diverse community.
We are committed to creating even greater opportunities for women, as well as developing pathways to help female staff and players reach their aspirations.
A Message From Aaron Warburton
This year’s international Women’s Day celebrations come on the back of an exciting time for our Club, with representation in all female premier competitions from the Lisa Fiaola Cup, Tarsha Gale Cup and the Harvey Norman Women’s Premiership Competition. Alongside this, the next generation of women are being primed to make their mark when the time comes for the Club to enter the NRLW. The Club submitted an application with a view to be included in the next competition expansion as early as 2024/25.
Just last week, we announced the news of a new Centre of Excellence for Belmore Sports Ground that will be inclusive of a space dedicated to our female pathways and will act as a high-performance hub for all our Bulldogs Academies and first grade teams to come together, under the same four walls.
We have welcomed more females to our football department and administration teams with women having roles in senior leadership, operations, high performance, medical services and player development and wellbeing.
Off the field, we are committed to looking after our player families and our Members who are our extended family, and supporting our local community who are just as diverse as we are.
On this International Women’s Day we reflect on the theme of Embrace Equity.
We are extremely proud to be a part of a Club that embraces equity and gives all individuals the tools and support that they need to reach their full potential.
There is of course more work to be done as we look to the future of women rugby league players becoming professional and full-time athletes. However, we are certainly moving in the right direction.
The support of all our corporate partners and our ground-breaking first Official Female Pathways Partner, Vari Group, who are supporting our women’s programs and employment opportunities outside of sport for our female players, is something we are incredibly grateful for.
We are also thankful for our strong female supporter base, including the Travelling Ladies who attend every single game.
It is our supporters who make this Club so special, and a Club For All.
