Four Bulldogs Unleashed for PM XIII Return

Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldog’s quartet Matt Burton, Josh Addo-Carr, Max King and Jake Averillo have been selected to represent in the Australian Men’s Prime Minister’s XIII team to play Papua New Guinea at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday September 25.

It will be the first PM’s XIII fixture to be played since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The game will take on extra importance not only for players pressing for selection ahead of the Rugby League World Cup, but given that the match will mark the first ever PM’s XIII to take place on Australian soil.

Prime Minister the Honourable Anthony Albanese acknowledged the importance of these fixtures to Australia and Papua New Guinea.

“Rugby League is part of the social fabric that ties Australia and Papua New Guinea together,” Prime Minister Albanese said.

“I’m looking forward to seeing some of the best players from our two nations go head-to-head in the PM’s XIII.

“I’m proud that Australia is able to host the men’s and women’s PM’s XIII this year, and look forward to its return to Papua New Guinea in 2023.”

The Prime Minister’s XIII will combine with the NRLW semi-finals match will for a Rugby League “Footy Fest” at Suncorp Stadium next Sunday 25 September 2022, with tickets already on sale.

All matches will be broadcast on the Nine Network and Fox Sports.
