The Bulldogs are near completing a personal development program for 12 of our youngest NRL players.
Conducted over the past three months the Be Our Best program has seen the players involved in group work in addition to one on one discussions with program developer Jhanna Culver.
The primary aim of the program was to empower our players to be successful people, not only NRL players, and thus become better decision makers and ambassadors for the Club and sport.
Bulldogs Wellbeing and Education Manager Steve Pike said the program has been a success as the players have all enthusiastically embraced the workshops and discussions, with a new understanding of how to build their mental muscles and be in the best position to be their best selves in all aspects of their life.
Pike said “Investing in these players now, will give them the best chance to be real leaders in our Club in the coming seasons".
Participants included Aaron Schoupp, Jake Averillo, Jacob Kiraz, Jackson Topine and Chris Patolo who have learnt to better control the controllables, deal with their emotional wellbeing and ultimately developing their potential, patience and perseverance.
‘It was really interesting learning about different mindsets and how our thought processes are affected by circumstances beyond our control, but how to shift our thoughts back to the positive. I really enjoyed it.” Jackson Topine
“I got to learn more about my team mates in the group discussions, what makes us tick and what’s important to us. The sessions increased my confidence and motivation to take control of my future.”
