Warriors-Titans pre-season trial cancelled due to extreme weather

The re-scheduled Warriors-Titans pre-season trial has been cancelled due to extreme weather conditions in South-East Queensland.

The match had initially been set down for Saturday at Redcliffe's Moreton Daily Stadium but was postponed until Monday night and moved to Cbus Super Stadium on the Gold Coast.

However, torrential rain throughout the region has continued, making it impossible to proceed with the trial.

Suncorp Stadium, which flooded in 2011, is again under water with the Brisbane River having breached the major flood level of 3.5 metres for the city.

Titans officials said the playing surface at Robina was not affected but access to the stadium was an issue.

With roads cut due to flooding there were also concerns about whether the Warriors would be able to travel from Brisbane to the Gold Coast for the match.

A statement from the Warriors said the match, which was set to be played in a closed stadium, would not be rescheduled.

Due to the schedule change announced on Saturday, the Sharks-Bulldogs match at PointsBet Stadium, originally scheduled for 7pm AEDT on Monday, was shifted to 6pm AEDT Monday.

Cronulla officials said the kick-off would remain at 6pm Monday.

The NRL and clubs said player safety would always be a priority in the current conditions, as well as the safety of supporters and staff.

The NRL thanked the clubs and the broadcasters for their cooperation regarding the schedule changes.
