Aub Mitchell joined Canterbury in 1936 from Gundagai.

With a physic typical of a forward, Aub mainly played at centre or on the wing.

He secured the wing position in first grade in 1936 and played in the inaugural semi-final against Easts (Roosters) in 1936.

He was unfortunate to miss selection in the 1938 Final when captain, Alan Brady returned from injury.

Injuries impacted his career thereafter and his career concluded after a short comeback in 1941.
