The Bulldogs NYC side have finished their season on a high with a 44-20 victory over the Rabbitohs at ANZ Stadium this afternoon.
It was eight tries to four at the end of 80 with the pups in control for the majority of the match
There was a minor hiccup in the opening exchanges with the Rabbitohs going over to score the first try of the match in just the third minute of play. It was hooker Maia Sands who crossed for the four-pointer and halfback Chad O’Donnell converted, giving the visitors an early 6-nil lead.
The remainder of the first half was all the Bulldogs with five tries being scored in 27 minutes. Hooker Joseph Tramontana scored the opening two tries for the pups in the 13th and 16th minutes. Five-eighth Adam Keighran had the kicking duties and he started his night well, converting the first two of the night.
Four minutes later D’Rhys Miller scored when he ran a great line, followed by good strength to carry two men over the line. Keighran couldn’t convert from five metres in from touch, with the score now 16-6 in favour of the blue and whites.
Jake Gleeson followed it up with a try out wide in the north-east corner and Keighran converted, before Will Kerr rounded out the first half tries when he burrowed under the defence just to the right of the uprights. Keighran converted to give the pups a 28-6 lead at half-time.
The Rabbitohs crossed for the first two tries of the second half with centre Tarquinn Butler crossing for both. O’Donnell converted one of the tries with the scoreboard now reading 28-16.
That’s where the fun ended for the Rabbitohs with the Bulldogs running in two further tries to secure the victory. Both were converted, giving the Bulldogs a 40-16 lead.
A try was scored by the Rabbitohs by winger Bailey Shiach-Wise, closing the gap to 40-20.
Just moments before the siren sounded, Kerr crossed for his second try and the Bulldogs registered a 44-20 victory.
