Bulldogs.com.au catches up with Kerrod Holland ahead of his debut in Bulldogs colours at the Auckland Nines.

The new recruit will get his first taste of rugby league in 2016 at the Auckland Nines this weekend and his first opportunity to represent the club.

The talented outside back joined the club from the Newcastle Knights and after a gruelling pre-season that has spanned 12 weeks, getting out on the field and playing some footy is what Holland is excited for.

"The 12 weeks of pre-season takes it out of you, so you can't wait to play footy," Holland said.

"There will be heavy contact playing the Warriors staright up, but it's something that I'm looking forward to.

The Auckland Nines gives teams and players an opportunity to showcase their skills with shorter halves, less players and plenty of open space, a concept Holland is hoping to take advantage of.

"It will be nice to get a bit of open space.

"In the Nines there is a lot of open space, so it will be nice to unleash and see if I can get a bit of a gallop up."
