The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs NYC side have today travelled down to Melbourne and been defeated 30-16 by the Storm at AAMI Park.
It was six tries three in the clash with the Storm also leading at the break 14-6.
There was just one change to the starting side with Adam Elliot coming in and David Minute going back to the bench.
The young Bulldogs were shooting themselves in the foot early by giving away a number of penalties. Two back to back in just the seventh minute gave the Storm great field position and they capitalised going over for their first try.
Front rower Matthew Lodge was the man to cross off a short ball close to the line. Halfback Billy Brittain couldnt convert with the score 4-nil after nine minutes.
Another penalty on half-way gave the Storm an attacking set that started just 30m out from the Bulldogs line. From that set the home side went over in the south-west corner through Dane Chang. Centre Niua Finau Puaka took over the kicking duties and was unsuccessful with the score remaining 8-nil after 14 minutes.
The Storm crossed for their third try in the 28th minute through interchange player Brendan Treston. Finau Puaka converted from directly in front with the score now 14-nil.
The 37th minute saw the Bulldogs open their account for the afternoon. It was John Sila who went over in the north-west corner after a good sweeping movement to the left that went through the hands of Moses Mbye, Dylan Rintoul and ended with Sila. Patrick Templeman smartly converted from the sideline with the score 14-6 as the sides went to the half-time break.
The second half saw the Storm dominate the early part of the half scoring three tries in 20 minutes. They were scored by Cade Umaga, Corey McGrady and Michael Butson with Finau Pinaka converted two of the three to extend the Storms lead to 30-6.
The Bulldogs were able to fight back in the closing part of the game with two tries in the final 11 minutes. The first was scored by Danny Fualalo and the second by David Minute. Templeman was able to convert just one of those with the score 30-16 as the final siren sounded.
