2014 debutant Corey Thompson has had a debut season that he will never forget, including a contract extension until the end of 2015.
Thompson, 23, arrived in Sydney for the first time ever midway through last season settling down and playing for the Bulldogs New South Wales Cup side, before making his debut in the season-opener against the same player whose exit from Belmore paved the way for his spot, Ben Barba.
Since his debut in the season opener, Thompson has been one of the Bulldogs most consistent players this year and he puts his form down to just focusing on one game at a time.
“I don’t like to look ahead and I just focus on one week at a time and try and play consistent footy,” said Thompson.
Since making his debut, Thompson has gone on to make 23 appearances in the blue and white. A tally he hopes to add to next season.
“I came to the club looking for an opportunity and whilst I knew I would have to work hard to earn it, it was great when I got told I would make my NRL debut at the start of the year,” Thompson said.
The 24-year-old has recently signed a 12 month contract extension which will see him remain at the club until the end of the 2015 season.
“I love it here, it’s a great bunch of guys and after playing a part this season, I feel part of the group and can’t wait for it to continue next year.”
This week Thompson will embark on one of the biggest games of his career and he knows the Bulldogs will be ready for a big game.
“The Panthers will come out firing, so we need to prepare for a big game,” said Thompson.
